Epic Games might well be preparing the introduction of a brand new Fortnite Battle Royale map and we’ve got the biggest hint yet that it’s not too far away from happening.
The Fortnite v10.30 patch, which landed on September 11, left the game’s player base mainly overjoyed by delivering on something they’ve wanted for a long time – the return of more fan-favorite locations.
While Moisty Palms and Greasy Grove will have attracted a buzz of attention after the update was rolled out, there could be something even more exciting in the works. A brand new map.
As is usually the case, data miners have been hard at work following the update, in an attempt to reveal some of Epic’s plans ahead of schedule and they might well have hit the jackpot.
Lucas7Yoshi, who has proven to be a pretty accurate Fortnite leaker, claims that 13 new names for points of interest have been added to the game files. A full list can be found below:
- Beachy Blufs
- Camp Cod
- Creative Island
- Dirty Docks
- Frenzy Farm
- Holly Hedges
- Lazy Lake
- Mountain Medow
- Power Plant
- Slurpy Swamp
- Sunny Shores
- Weeping Woods
- Mountain Meadows
Just like the rest of us, Lucas7Yoshi has absolutely no idea why all of these name tags have been added at once. However, with 21 named locations spread across the Season 10 map, it’s highly unlikely that a further 13 could be added in its current state.
That could mean an expansion to the current map or, a more likely possibility, the creation of a new one ahead of a future season. For all we know, the map as we know it could be about to change very drastically.
Based on the leaked names alone, they certainly have all of the makings of an interesting landscape, including dock areas, lakes, beaches and more. However, nothing has been confirmed as of the time of writing, so let’s take it all with a pinch of salt for now.
After all, these could just be more spots introduced with Rift Beacons to replace old destinations… What an underwhelming result that would be.
